Compassion is a special feeling, it has an exquisite effect on the soul

Excerpt from Mr.Adnan Oktar's Live Interview on A9 and Gaziantep Olay TV dated June 21st, 2011 

ADNAN OKTAR: First of all there is the feeling of compassion in believers. I mean in the person who believes in Allah, there exists the feeling of compassion. First of all compassion is a feeling that does not fade, it never lessens. When a woman is ill, the feeling of compassion felt for her would reach to the peak. May Allah forbid if she gets disabled the feeling of compassion would reach to the peak level, when she grows old that feeling reaches to the peak level, it becomes even more intensified, if she falls in need, for instance if she falls down somehow, may Allah forbid, the feeling of compassion steps in, if she doesn't have the strength to cope with something the feeling of compassion steps in. Compassion is a very pleasant feeling. I mean, it is a special feeling like lust, it has an exquisite effect on the soul. It is such a beautiful feeling. And a beautiful inexhaustible feeling of compassion constantly prevails in the soul. 

For instance when she doesn't know something, if there is the mindset of unbelief, one might turn against her, he might get angry and be upset with her. But looking from a faithful point of view, one's compassion would increase when she fails to know something. He feels like protecting and watching over her even more. For instance if she does not have the strength to deal with something, one would feel compassion for her and love her even more. But someone looking with a cruel point of view, when she does not have the strength to cope up with something, he would feel anger and a hatred for her, he would be upset with her and attempt to take revenge. For instance, if she forgets something, a believer would feel compassion and enjoy that feeling, the urge to protect and watch over her would be even stronger.  But a person with a cruel point of view would see her forgetfulness as a reason to get angry, feels rage towards her. This is too numerous to be counted. That is why compassion is a great blessing, it is a special power, a special feeling given to the believers by Allah, it is the inner energy of the believers. Allah likes this temper, this moral attitude very much. Compassion is the manifestation of Allah's Names Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

And a mother shows compassion for her child. If that child is wise enough, he would feel compassion for his mother as well, he would protect and watch over his mother as well. For instance there was a cat in the garden today with her kitten, the kitten was almost fully grown. Kitten stayed a bit distant, the mother just made a mumbling sound and the kitten went running to the mother. For instance if we were to call it, the kitten would not come but when the mother called out for the kitten, it instantly ran to the mother. This time in the second stage, it stayed really away and went somewhere far and the mother stayed ahead, mother constantly mumbled but the little one didn't go. We said; "look your mother is waiting for you," and when we stepped aside, the mother went running to the kitten. This time when they saw us being interested in them, they both came near and I understood that they were hungry, I gave them a piece of cheese, the mother started eating the cheese and the little one tried eating the pieces left from the mother.  For instance they ate the cheese, I thought the cheese was salty so they should be thirsty, I brought them a cup of water and gave them. They instantly approached the water and start drinking it heartily, let me say it that much..   

For instance I liked that a lot, that neediness of the kitten, the fondness it has for the mother and the mother is concerned that something would happen to it, she constantly follows it. Actually it was fully grown but the mother still thought that she was responsible to keep it safe. And the kitten didn't leave the mother. For instance, in respect of satisfying the feeling of compassion, it was very pleasant. I mean watching them was very pleasant. For instance when they drank that water I felt very happy I liked it a lot. Because if they had gone just after eating cheese, I would have been bothered, that is because it is likely that they wouldn't be able to find water. When they cannot find water, their kidneys would be forced, their bodies would be forced and they wouldn't know because they are animals and they would be hurt. But they have taken good proteins.

For instance this is an example of compassion. A person would feel compassion for trees as well. A plant might not get enough sunlight and for it to get sunlight, you remove the obstacle that might be on the way and that is the compassion that you have for that plant. For instance the water in the soil dries, you water the soil and that is compassion as well. Because it is a pleasure to see the flower blossom.. Just like this, compassion manifests itself everywhere.
